A day in my life: Saturday December 11, 2010

Thoughts:
In the last 4 weeks I have gained every week. I have to be honest and admit I often didn’t make the right food choices. At this moment I’m close to my starting weight from the beginning of this year. If I continue doing what I’m doing now I will close this year by losing nothing or worse by gaining and I don’t want that.

I keep track of my weight in an Excel sheet (been doing that since November 2007, before that I’ve written my weight on January 1st down since 2003) and I looked up when I had good periods of losing weight. In August I followed an eating plan, remember? That’s one period when I kept losing weight every week. The other period is at the beginning of this year when I was doing the Weight Watchers program.

This shows that being on a program works the best for me even though I’m not a fan of counting Points, calories or whatever. But it kept me thinking all week and I finally decided to go back to Weight Watchers and give it another try.

I’m starting Monday. This month I will get familiar with the program again and I won’t follow the program on December 17, 21 (Christmas lunch at work), 25, 26, 31 and January 1. From January 2nd I will follow the program every day: no exceptions.

Honestly I don’t know if it’s going to work this time but I’m willing and ready to give it another try. After all, in all these years of the weight loss battle, WW has been the only program that worked, it helped me reach goal weight once and I hope it will help me reach it again.

Holiday Bootie Buster Challenge

December 4-December 10:
Running (1 Point per mile): 6
Walking (1 Point per mile):
1 Point per day where you reach a minimum of 7 servings of fruits and veggies: 1

Total this week: 7 Points.

Exercise:
This morning finally good weather to run outside. The roads were all clean again, temperature around 8C (46 degrees), drizzling rain, windy. My first few K’s were tough because my right calf was hurting a bit but after about 2K my legs were warmed up and it didn’t bother me anymore. I did walk more than I usually do, needed that today. The last 4K were harder because I had the wind in front of me.

I did 10K in 1 hour and 10 minutes which was my second best 10K this (to my surprise). Even tough it wasn’t my best run ever, I’m happy I went and were able to run outside again.

  1. Glad to hear you have found what actually works for you…and that you are going to do it again…
following a plan does help most people, I know it helped me and WW does work…so go for it and lets keep celebrating weekly and the weight falls off…

  2. good for you..you have to find what works.Im working on that myself right now, I have been playing around in the 190′s for far to long and sadly if i dont do something am right at the edge of getting out of them again and not in the direction i want. It is so hard once you get out of a routine to get back in it again. Me personally I dont know why I fight it so much, I feel SOOOO much better when I do what I need to do!
    Good Luck and keep moving
    M

  3. I’m shocked you are able to run 10K being almost back at the weight you started at!? GFY!! And I know what you mean about the gainging the weight back. It’s hard to turn it around again after winning getting lazy and then getting back up again to get BACK down! It’s a sickening feeling. But you can do it. Are you ready to go back down again? Can you taste skinny? For me I am tasting it more and more each day :) I want so badly to be able to wear my “skinny clothes” again…I’m tired of wearing the SAME clothes everyday…my favourites are still too small…but I WILL get back into them…I’m determined to! I can taste it. hehe

  4. I totally agree about WeightWatchers and am about to blog about being back on that program myself. It works – regardless of anything else.

And don’t beat yourself up – be positive.

  5. Running against the wind makes you stronger Fran :) You did a good 10 km run!
When I’m crazy busy I don’t make the right food choices.

    Have a nice weekend!

  6. Good luck with WW. I have never tried anything else before so I don’t know if other things would work for me but WW definitely does so I see no reason to switch to something else.

Please re-subscribe to my blog. When I moved it from Blogger to WP, the feed stopped working. The new URL for the feed is http://hello-gorgeous.me/feed/

  7. This is a VERY hard time of year to maintain weight to say nothing about losing it. Good luck

  8. Hey Fran: it is such a boost to know that you are also joining WW right now. I agree, we can totally support each other and I promise you I will. Now about that run…. we’ll see…. Soon I hope to get up the nerve to strap on my shoes again.

Great work on the 10km. Into a wind too! So proud of you.

  9. Sigh…..I so understand what you mean…it is so difficult to keep things going without being on a plan. I hope the WW works out for you this year. I really want to get things sorted out AT LAST and it seems like it is always one step forward, one step back….on and on and on….bah!

  10. It’s hard to maintain this time of year… And I think it’s a great idea that you are going back to what you know works for you. Good luck!

  11. Running against the wind is boring, when it’s windy I prefer to start with the wind in front on me to come back in an easier way. About the weight, this is the worst period of the year: too many celebrations.
I read your playlist, I like it. By e-mail I will send mine in a couple of days. Have a good running week.

  12. Running in the wind is so hard – kudos for having such a great 10K in those conditions! And I think it’s good to go back to what you know works, diet-wise. I know you resist staying on a plan where you have to be accountable for long, but you do seem to lose weight during those times. And it sounds like you are really motivated to commit to Weight Watchers, which to me is most of the battle, lol!

  13. I am so proud of you for getting to the root of what’s going on and embracing accountablity. Good for you Fran! You are going to have a great 2011!

  14. Remember me? :) I also found that following a plan is what works best for me and I’m excited to try out ww’s new plan. Looking forward to seeing how we all do.

  15. I haven’t done a darn thing since last Tuesday. No runs, to spinning, nothing. Getting back on track starting tomorrow.

I lost 30 lbs with Weight Watchers. Haven’t lost a thing since I got off of the program. Might have to start it up again after the holidays. :-)
