A day in my life: Monday December 20, 2010

Thoughts:
Over the weekend we had a lot of snow. It snowed all night on Saturday. I can’t remember the last time we had so much snow. I realize that for some of you this is nothing but in the country I live in snow is an exception not normal. Usually our Winters are wet or just cold but hardly ever snow. I am getting used to it day by day but still not a fan of it. The only one who still loves it is Bella and it’s so much fun to see her play in the snow. Here are some photos how it looks now where I live.

Weekly review week 50:
Monday: Rest (calf issues)
Tuesday: Pilates, 1 hour, burned 174 calories.
Wednesday:. Running, 5K/3.1 miles, 34 minutes, burned 430 calories.
Thursday: Rest (planned).
Friday: Rest.
Saturday: Running, 11 K/6.8 miles, 78 minutes, burned 943 calories.
Sunday: Walk in the snow with Bella, 30 minutes.

Weekly totals:
Time: 2 hours and 52 minutes.
Distance: 16 K / 9.9 miles
Burned calories: 1547

Weight Watchers weekly review

I started on Monday last week with counting Points, I didn’t count on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. My weigh inn day is still Thursday and I’ve lost 1.2 kg (2.6 lbs.) in a week. Considering that I started on Monday and that I didn’t adjust my eating plan this week, I’m very happy with this result. My weight during the weekend stayed the same even though I didn’t count Points.

What have I learned this week? At lunch I bring a package of soy milk to work, banana flavour. It appeared that this is a lot of Points: 4.5 Points a package. I finished the packages I had and will switch to natural soy milk tomorrow which is 3 Points.

Another change are the snacks. I used to bring a mueslibar or something like that to work to eat in the mornings and fruits for the afternoon. As of this week I replaced the morning snack with fruits too.

And you can see I used a lot of Points on Thursday. I baked chocolate muffins for work and had one myself and we ate spaghetti carbonara for dinner which is a lot of Points too.

Conclusion: there’s definitely room for improvement. I think I used up all my Points this week and even some of my Activity Points but that’s okay as long as I keep losing weight.

Daily dinner

Monday
A piece of beef meat, rösti, carrots and green peas.

  1. Love your new header! Bella looks adorable with her little snow beard. It looks like all of Europe is getting quite the winter this year. We are experiencing far colder temps than normal…when is Spring??

  2. There may be some room for improvement if you say so but hey! You lost 2.6 lbs and that is amazing. Well done Fran!

And yes, I know I can earn some APs if I get my shoes on! LOL. Thanks for the reminder. :)

  3. Bella looks so happy in the snow. :) At least she’s black so you can’t lose her!

  4. Good to see you are doing great!!! Yes the snow is something to get used to if you are not used to it. I am but I am also used to the sun coming out and melting it right away. Something that doesn’t happen much here in Bavaria. Hope to be more regular on here again~!

  5. You have more snow than we do – congratulations! :D

Seems like people are liking the new WW plan. More fruit is being consumed, that is for sure! Hooray!

Can you post a recipe for rosti? I love potatoes in any form.

  6. Oh, I feel for you my friend. I live on the coast which means more sleet and ice than snow… but last year every storm was coastal and we were bombarded with the white stuff. So far, we haven’t had any but now it’s forecast for Christmas Day. That, I won’t mind because I’ll be home with my loved ones. It’s the trying to run or drive in the stuff that can make you crazy. Keep safe and warm!

  7. You do have a lot of snow. We’re used to it here and in past winters, I’ve looked forward to running in the snow but this year, I just CAN NOT get into it. Still – it does look so pretty and just can’t beat it for Christmas day.

Happy holidays and healthy eating. :)

  8. That’s allot of snow for somewhere not used to getting much at all!!!!! We have very little on the ground right now, but the ice is incredibly thick. And we have another ice storm forecast for Thursday night. :-)

Bella looks like she was having a blast!!!!!!!

  9. Looks kind of like that here too! And I love the new look to your blog – very nice!

  10. Love the pics of Bella. Tell her I like the snow too! My cats don’t though!

  11. Ooh, your blog looks beautiful!

That snow is amazing. Love how much Bella enjoys it – she probably thinks you made that happen just for her. :)

You did great with your eating this week and I’m impressed at how you are changing up some of your snacks – the weight will be melting off of you!

  12. Bella looks so cute out in the snow!!!

Congrats on the loss. I’m really enjoying the new plan.

Also – I LOVE Rosti. I’ve been too intimidated to try and make it myself. Is yours points friendly?

  13. Fran, wanted to pop around quickly to catch up on your blog and also to let you know 4 cards arrived today and the one was from YOU…
    Thanks so very much!!

  14. Bella is … more bella in the snow! Last friday we also saw a bit of snow after many many years.
Happy Christmas to you, family and Bella from Italy.

  15. I like the new look of your blog.
You are mentioning about the quantity of snow you guys are getting that side of the world and that it is much more than before. Here in South Africa, we are getting a lot more rain currently than the years before. And it seems that the clouds are gathering again, as I speak.

  16. Great pics Fran. How about this… 1/2 bar in the morning and the other half in the afternoon? Just fruit as a snack is never enough for me.

  17. Your snow pics are fabulous! I especially love the one with the happy bella! :)

    Loving the new look! :)

  18. Love the new blog look! Yes, it looks like there is going to be snow for a while. Glad to hear the calf is improving all the time. Merry Christmas and a very happy New Year to you!

  19. What a beatiful image of Bella in the snow! Walking in the snow with Bella is the best workout :)

    Happy Christmas holiday!

  20. Fran,
First off I love the new look of your blog, so fresh and so clean.
Bella in the snow reminds me of my little Simba in the snow, dont you just love how they come in with a face full of snow ;-) .
Great work on the loss, I was down 2.6 this week, but possibly for different reasons.
Merry Christmas my dear Fran, thanks for your continued support, it means alot!

  21. Hi Fran,
