A day in my life: Friday December 24, 2010

Did you know that ….

  • I worked my butt off till Wednesday at noon but was able to do everything that had to be done and could shut down my PC at work at noon and have a great Christmas lunch with my colleagues and also got a Christmas bonus this year, even though our country still suffers from the economic crisis.
    .
  • I have vacation till January 3rd
    .
  • I haven’t worked out all week and not going to till Monday and I’m totally okay with that. No guilt at all.
    .
  • We are going to have a white Christmas. The snow is still here. Temperatures are above zero the past few days but we had so much snow that it’s going to take a while before it’s all gone.
    .
  • I’ve cleaned up my Google reader and threw out all the blogs on which I comment regular but who never took the effort to look at mine.
    .
  • I’m thinking about starting the 365 days photo challenge again on January 1st.
Would you like it if I start this again even though my life can be pretty boring sometimes?
    .
  • We have something here in Holland called Serious Request?
A radio station does this every year, for 6 years now. 3 DJ’s live in a house of glass in a city in Holland. They can’t get out for 6 days and they don’t eat for 6 days. All of this to raise money for the Red Cross. Every year they have a different cause. This year it’s for 15 million orphans who lost their parents to AIDS. You can give money, or request a record for money, or send a text message. Last year they collected 7 million Euro’s, half of it was donated by our government. This year the government won’t double the amount but yesterday they already collected 3.1 million Euro’s (4 million USD). It’s on TV 24 hours a day and we watch it a lot. It’s kind of a tradition. Tonight at 9.30 pm they leave the house and the final amount is announced.

.

This leaves me with only one more thing to say and that is that I wish you and your family a happy and loving Christmas.

  1. Hope you have a wonderful Christmas and vacation. I’m so glad Amy’s family made it here.

  2. Hi Fran!
My mom and I are sitting here together, reading your blog! Congratulations on your Christmas bonus – that’s a nice surprise!
We were pretty lucky to get here – I heard from my neighbor in Belgium how bad it has been since we left. I hope you can enjoy a peaceful and relaxing Christmas at home and that you don’t have to be out on the roads too much. I wish I could say I was going to take some time off exercising – but my mom is making me go to boot camp with her this morning!
And yes, I always enjoy seeing your pictures – go for it!
big hugs & een zalige kerstfeest
    Amy
PS: We have the exact same radio program in flanders – one year the glass house was in Leuven – this year it’s in Antwerpen…

  3. Merry Christmas! We’re having a white Christmas as well. All the snow had melted prior to today but it’s been snowing for a while now so everything is covered in white again.

  4. have a great holiday!

  5. Merry Christmas to you and your family Fran!!

    Love and hugs:)

  6. Merry Christmas, Fran!
I enjoyed your 365 day pictures. I think I want to try a similar challenge.

  7. Sounds like you are getting a welcome and much-needed break for the rest of the year! Congratulations on getting a bonus – that is so wonderful!

I like your 365 pictures. Maybe what might seem a little boring to you is because you see it all the time – to me, it’s quite interesting. Just like that radio-host lock-in…how cool that they do that every year. We don’t have things like that here in the U.S.

Hope lightening your Google reader load has lightened your stress level as well – I know for me if I feel “behind” in reading all of the blogs on my list, it makes me a little stressed, which is crazy because I read blogs for enjoyment!

Merry Christmas, Fran – have a wonderful holiday!

  8. Merry Christmas Fran, many blessings

Merry Christmas my friend. To you and R and of course to Bella too.

  11. Merry Christmas Fran! Congrats on the bonus, too – yay!

I hear you about the google reader. I need to clean mine out as well. Funny how reading blogs can stress you out when they are supposed to be ones you want to read LOL!

  12. Merry Christmas Fran, enjoy and have a great time off from work and running. Ditto the bloggie readers….I have been thinking about the same thing!

  13. Merry Christmas, Fran! Glad it is a white one for you! I’m off until Jan. 3 too!

  14. Merry Christmas to you and R….have a lovely white one this year, we have fresh snow this morning which is fantastic for my family who have never experienced a white xmas before..let me go before they all wake up to open their gifts…its chaos.

  15. Gelukkig Kerstdagen Fran!!
