A day in my life: Wednesday December 29, 2010

Thoughts:
I’m enjoying my vacation very much although it seems I didn’t have that much time to myself but from today I will. Yesterday I spend the entire day from 9 till 4 on cleaning my house, I had a lot of chores to do where I normally don’t have the time for. Result: clean house and sore muscles where I didn’t know I had.

Tonight we’re going out. We’re going to a musical called “We will rock you”. Don’t know what the story is about but all the music is from Queen which we like.

As the year is coming to an end, it’s time to look at my goals for next year.

My weight goals haven’t changed, I will post my year results on Friday. The goal stays the same: target weight 73 kg (161 lbs.), get fat percentage to < 27%, muscles percentage > 43% and BMI < 25.
I haven’t set a date for my goals except that I want to reach goal weight in 2011. I’m going to use Weight Watchers for that, starting on January 3rd. I’m not going to put too much pressure on my weight, as long as I will lose weight on a regular base I’m happy with it.

I have posted my workout goals two weeks ago, these haven’t changed. I did decide to sign up for Syl’s January challenge: workout 5 days a week for at least 30 minutes because it fits in with my own workout goals.

I’ve asked you if you would like it if I started the 365 Photo Challenge again and you’ve responded very positive to that and I will start this again on January 1st. I’ve warned you: sometimes it can be boring.

I’ve set some other personal goals and one of them is “try 1 new recipe” a week. I will post a photo every Wednesday on my blog. If the recipe is not too difficult to translate and it tastes good, I will post the recipe too. Monday will be for my weekly workout and weight watchers review and on Saturday I will post the 365 photo challenge.

Exercise:
After running a few times on my Brooks shoes and my Asics shoes I started to notice that I had more calf issues when I used the Asics. I decided to buy a new pair of Brooks Adrenaline shoes (blue this time) and they arrived just before Christmas. I put my Asics online and try to sell them because they are as good as new.

.

I tried my new Brooks for a test run on the treadmill on Monday and ………. no calf issues what so ever. In fact it was a great run (for as far as a run on the treadmill can be great). The snow has been melting all day and the roads were icy and I didn’t want to risk anything so went inside. Had to do 40 minutes and did 6K/3.7 miles. I played with the speed, every minute I went faster till a certain speed and then back. By doing this I had a new PR on my 6K but I’m not counting it. PR’s are for road runs and not treadmill. :)

  1. Cute shoes and I’m glad you finally had a good run on a treadmill! Changing up the speed keeps it interesting – I do that too.

  2. Good plans for the New Year, and I will surely support you all the way! I saw We Will Rock You in London a few years ago – set in the future. I enjoyed it, S did not as he has seen Queen live quite a few times. Anyway, you will have fun! Enjoy!

  3. One of my Resolutions for 2011 is to do a 365 days photo project. Taking a picture every day, no particular theme in mind. So I am curious about your Photo Challenge!

  4. The right shoes make all the difference when it comes to running!

I need to do a deep clean of my house too… and I usually do, right around New Year’s. Just another way to ‘start fresh.’

    Enjoy your play!

  5. I love Queen!!! Wish I could go see that, except I would embarrass you by singing most likely.

I really like that you have a no pressure goal on weight loss. I am going along the same line. No losing X amount by Y date. Too much stress and pressure.

Hope 2011 is an amazing year for you!

  6. You might be the most organized person I know. :)

Enjoy the musical, I’m sure it will be amazing.

  7. Great goals for the new year! I love the one about trying a new recipe (i would love to do more of that myself). And hope the new shoes help your calf issues.

Have fun at the musical!! :)

  8. Shoes can make such a difference in one’s exercising. That I have experienced in the past as well.
Cleaning house for 7 hours?!? Wow! You’re good. There’s no way that I can do that, mind you, I have done it in the past and I too was sore in places I did not thought existed :)

  9. I love the smell of new shoes!! :-)

It’s amazing how such a simple thing (a shoe) can cause or eliminate such major pains. Glad these are working out for you!!!!!

  10. I like your plan to try a new recipe every week. I would like to do something similar once I’m settled somewhere again.

  11. Your house must be spotless after that long of a cleaning binge! I like to do a good clean after Christmas, when I’m putting the decorations away…haven’t done that yet but strangely, I’m looking forward to it.

Nice new shoes – glad they didn’t hurt your calves. So weird that some shoes work so well and others just plain don’t. I feel like it’s always a gamble – a $100 gamble, that is, when buying a new pair of running shoes!

  12. I just ordered those same shoes! Hopefully they’ll be here soon, I need them badly! Glad to hear they are working so well for you.

  13. Yay on finding the right shoes to workout in! Every shoe is not right for everybody. Good for you setting a PR on the treadmill. Treadmill runs are boring but necessary when its not safe to exercise outside due to weather or safety…
    Happy New Year to you!

  14. I have to admit I was not surprised to hear you had joined up with Syl’s challenge after leaving me a message saying you would not be joining mine due to your no challenge policy…I said to myself…but if Syl starts a challenge Fran will join…
But its okay…I have plenty who are doing it with me this time…so no hard feeling….its just the way it is.

  15. I love Queen; hope you enjoyed the musical!

Enjoy the rest of 2010. Wishing you a happy & healthy 2011!

  16. I love Brooks shoes as well. In fact, I just bought two pair on line, I can’t tell which one I like the best, the Ghost or the Launch. Keep me posted on how they work for you!!
