A day in my life: Saturday April 3rd 2010

Thoughts:
The long Eastern weekend has started as we don’t work on Eastern Monday like most of you as I understand.
In fact due to all the coming up Holidays I only have 2 weeks of 5 workdays till the end of May and after that we have our annual holiday for 3 weeks at the half of June. I like this time of year.

We have no big plans for Eastern. Tomorrow we will have Eastern breakfast together and visit my mom after that. On Eastern Monday we are going to visit my mother in law but besides that we stay at home and relax.

This afternoon one of my best friends is coming to visit me. I haven’t seen her since last November but we have contact almost everyday through SMS. She has had a rough few months so we have a lot to talk about. I look forward to seeing her again. After a bit of chatting at my house we will go out to dinner together.

Exercise:
I had planned to do a long run today but the weather forecast predicted a lot of rain and when I turned on my Ipod the battery was almost empty. So I decided to do a short run of 5K. The weather was nice, windy and cloudy but sometimes a bit of sunshine and it went very well. After 5K it still wasn’t raining, my Ipod was still working and my legs felt good so I decided to run one more K and ended up at 6K.

Stats:
Weather: 10 ˚C/50 degrees, cloudy with sometimes sunshine, windy.
Distance: 6K / 3.7 miles
Time: 0:41:31
Average time: 6:55 /km
Average speed: 8.7 km/hour

I want to run a long run tomorrow or on Monday but the weather forecast isn’t that good, especially not for tomorrow so I’ll see day by day if I can go out for a run.

Goal total km’s/miles week 13:
20K / 12.4 miles.

So far: 12K / 7.4 miles

What’s for dinner:
Yesterday: some pasta with tomatoes and green asparagus.

And look what R. brought home yesterday: a pie he got from his boss for Eastern. I had a little piece and it was really good.

  1. Hello and happy Easter to you as well…

Its a holiday on Monday in Germany and in South Africa, cant talk about the rest of the world, but its a lovely LONG weekend that most people go away at.

Well done on the 6km run…My last run was on Tuesday…*BAD*
But as from Tuesday I can go back to gym and run on the treadmill. BTW are you still going to the new gym, I never read about you and gym and the moment??? so wondering.

Heinz was to cycle today, but I said he is crazy….so lets see, I cant see him going – he’s sitting watching the F1 qualifying that he recorded.

Have a great time with your friend…hope she is feeling a lot better…

    Chat soon

  2. Happy Easter to you, too, Fran! that cake looks very decadent and yummy. Here the shops are full of chocolate in all shapes and sizes – dangerous! Enjoy the extra long weekend – I will be doing my long run with my sister on Monday – hopefully the weather will be better then because they are predicting really bad weather for Easter Sunday. However, I think the kids will still want to have an egg hunt in the garden, rain or no rain!!!

  3. Hi Fran: I am so impressed with your running these days. Your average time is getting faster and you’re adding more distance and you are honouring your schedule. Good for you!

Here in Canada it is the employers choice whether or not to grant Monday as a holiday. I’m one of the lucky ones so I am on a four day weekend! We had a nice family dinner last night, a lot of laughs, it was really great.

Keep up the good work Fran and a Very Happy Easter to you and R. 🙂

  4. Happy Easter to you guys!! In the states we don’t seem to get off as much time as they do in Germany but on that note in the states a lot of things are open 24/7 so that is just what we are used to. I don’t think many Americans could handle having stores closed all the time. I know it drives me nuts. I work Monday. Even though we are in Germany we follow the American Holidays. The Germans I work with are being paid double. Just my luck though. Have a good rest of the weekend.

  5. Happy Easter, Fran! Glad you are getting a long weekend and that you can see your vacation (holiday) in sight! June will be here before you know it – what are your plans?

I love how a 5K is a short run for you. I can’t wait until I think of that as “short”, but in the meantime, it’s still a great run, and how cool that everything cooperated so you could kick it up to a 6K!

Hope you have a wonderful visit with your friend. Thanks for being so supportive and encouraging, this week especially. I really appreciate you!

  6. isn’t it funny as we get better and better we consider a 5km run a “short” run, I remember this time last year I was training for my first 5k and it seemed like I would never make it 🙂

have a great weekend and happy easter my friend
