A day in my life: Wednesday July 7, 2010

Thoughts:
Monday night we went to see Eclipse. It was sold out and we were about the oldest people there 🙂  I think 80% were teenage girls. Makes you feel old for a minute 🙂

Yesterday I took it easy (as I will the rest of the week). The Netherlands were playing the half final of the World Cup Soccer last night and we watched it. By the end of the game it got very exciting as Uruguay scored another goal, I hardly dared to watch. But we won with 3-2 and we are going to play the final next Sunday. This is the first time in 32 years that we’re in the final. We’ve played the finals in 1974 and 1978 and lost both times so everybody’s hoping this time we will win. We have to play against Germany or Spain whom have to play their game tonight.

It was completely silent on the streets during the game but as soon as the game was over there was fireworks in my town and we heard people singing in the centre of the town which is about 3K away from our house. Cars were passing by claxoning. The whole country has gone mad as I saw on the news. Soccer is the biggest sport in our country.

Today no big plans either, it’s getting hotter again day by day so all I do is sit in my patio and enjoy my last days of my vacation with some reading, cross stitching, making puzzles.

Tomorrow morning I’m finally getting my new running shoes. We’re going to a running store in the next town to buy them. Of course picture will follow in my next post.

Exercise:
Tuesday morning I did training 1 of week 3 of my half marathon training. A 30 minute run in which I had to accelerate 4 times for 3 minutes. Weather was nice, right leg a bit tired but besides that it was a good run.

Stats:
Weather: sunny, a little bit of wind, ± 18C / 64 degrees.
Distance: 4.4 K / 2.7 miles
Time: 00:30:00
Average time: 6:49 /km
Average speed: 8.8 km/hour

This morning I did my interval run on the treadmill in the gym. Compared to last weeks interval this one was a lot easier, longest distance to run faster was 300 m (last week 600 m). It went very well.

Stats:
Distance: 4 K / 2.4 miles
Time: 00:26:41
Average time: 6:40 /km
Average speed: 9.0 km/hour

Movie review:
Twilight Saga: Eclipse

What do I have to tell about the story. I think most of you must have heard of the Twilight Saga. I’m a big fan of the books and wanted to see the movie too. I liked it but I have to be honest: I love the books more, but that’s normal for me as a book describes so much more. The movie was sold out and we were about the oldest people there 😆 (by the way R. didn’t like the movie at all so have to see Breaking Dawn on my own). I loved it that Jasper had a bigger part in this movie, I liked him a lot. But still on team Edward although sympathy for Jacob grows by each book/movie. If you like the books it’s a must see. If you don’t: wait for it till it gets out on DVD or something.

What’s for dinner:
Monday easy dinner: pita bread with Gyros meat and a salad.

Yesterday left over meat from the BBQ last week: beef tenderloin, baked potatoes and pees with carrots.

Quote of the day:
Soccer is a game in which everyone does a lot of running around.  Twenty-one guys stand around and one guy does a tap dance with the ball.

  1. I really need to figure out how to get you on my blog roll. I feel so bad bc I forget. I can’t wait to see the Eclipse. I love those books. In
fact I am on the wait list at the library for the latest one she wrote about Belle’s daughter. Have u read that yet? Can’t wait to see the new shoes. Love new shoes even of they are running shoes!!

  2. love the color of the outfit you showing today.
So very happy Netherlands won last night…don’t like that other cheating team, when they played against Ghana they were the biggest cheats ever…so they got what they deserved as that should have been Ghana against Holland last night.
My nerves are finished for tonight..Spain is the favorite to win the cup this year, they were predicted to win before the games even started…

  3. Oh, I have not seen Eclipse yet, but am really really excited to see it. I am also excited for your half marathon training!! 🙂 You are going to do great!

  4. I love your outfit! You look so good in skirts and they all are so pretty – love your taste in clothes!

How fun that the Netherlands is in the finals – that is really cool to hear the town erupt in joy when they won! In America, cars honk their horns, but “claxoning” sounds like noise-making so I got that right away. 🙂

    Enjoy your peaceful day!

  5. Just wanted to let you know I don’t use google reader but I looked around based off of what you said and figured it out!! Thank you~ Know you are on my reader so I will always get your updates again!!!

  6. Pretty outfit today!! And congrats to your country getting through to the final. Unfortunately Germany (my background is German) lost today so we won’t be playing you. 😦 I was looking forward to them playing you too. Would have made for a great game.

Thanks for your concern yesterday. I was away for nearly a week and have been sick … so no posting. I will try to get something up today or tomorrow.

  7. Once again, such a cute skirt. You must have *forgotten* to take a picture of the shoes! I’m a shoe girl. Have fun getting your new ones, by the way. I just love new running shoes, can’t wait to see them!
Enjoy your summer days of puzzles and reading. That’s what I’m doing too!

  8. Hi Fran,
Thanks for the tip on the movie. I have read all of the books..I know what you mean. It is hard to watch a movie when you read the book, sometimes it is a bit of a letdown. It is a good thing that all of the actors are hotties:)

Cute outfit! I love gyros too:)

  9. Love your outfit! Looks so cool and refreshing. Glad to hear the Netherlands made the World Cup finals!
On the exercise, good to see that you are getting your running in. I’m considering starting half-marathon training in the next couple of weeks to maybe be ready for a race in October. Maybe we can keep each other motivated! 🙂

  10. wow! big day on sunday! I’ll be watching on my side of the pond too.

Love that outfit Fran. Very pretty.

  11. Netherlands soccer team is playing a great 2010 FIFA World cup in South Africa! This team is stronger than Spain 🙂 Never underestimate opponents: look at Germany vs Spain! GO NETHERLANDS, GO!

  12. I haven’t seen that movie – not sure I want to. You look lovely in that outfit!

  13. Love the outfit, it’s very pretty on you!

I’m also not a fan of Eclipse, or any of the saga for that matter…I’m sure if I read it I might feel differently though!

Great job on your training runs too, you’re certainly going to kick this race in the booty!

  14. love the outfit!

  15. Nice outfit!

I will not be reading those books or watching those movies…I don’t like vampires or werewolves. Why can’t Bella find a nice boy??? LOL!

I did watch the game and loved it when we won!!!

    Hup! Holland! Hup!

Can’t wait to watch the game on Sunday!!!
