A day in my life: Saturday May 28, 2011

Thoughts:
As you may or may not know I have an addiction for TV shows. As the season of most shows has come to an end I’m going to talk about my favorite shows. Here in Holland we are often a few episodes behind on the US but not as much as a few years ago.

Grey’s Anatomy: Still my one of my favourites of the past years. Last Monday we had the final episode of the season and I was happy to see it concentrated on Meredith, Christina and Alex. I think Mer was adorable with Zola and I don’t think Derek will leave her. There has been to many Calizona episodes the past weeks in my opinion. The musical episode was THE WORST EPISODE EVER in my opinion. First time I zapped through the episode.

Glee: I’m definitely a gleek! We still have 4 episodes to go till the end of the season. Last week “Born this way” was on which I will watch this afternoon. What I like about this show is what they do with the songs especially the mash-ups. Favourite song of this season so far is “Forget you” with Gwyneth Paltrow. My favourite of the show is Puck.

Modern family: Best comedy show of the moment. There hasn’t been 1 episode where I didn’t have to laugh. I think it’s brilliant and all characters are great. We have 6 more episodes to go till the season final.

The Mentalist: I love Patrick Jane. He has something charming and I love his smile. Still waiting if he will ever get a relation with Theresa.  One more to go till the final but I already know that he’s going to shoot Red John. But my question: was it really Red John?

True Blood: I discovered this show a few months ago and love it. I watched season 1 and 2. Season 4 will start here in August. Since I haven’t seen season 3 yet, I bought it on DVD this week and will watch it before season 4 starts.

Just a few shows I love. Other shows I love are Private Practice, Rookie Blue, Desperate Housewives, Gossip Girl, Army Wives, Cougar Town, The Vampire Diaries, The Good Wife, Rizzoli & Isles, Two and a half men (but with Charlie Sheen) and occasionally The Big Bang Theory. Told you I was an addict LOL.

What are your favourite tv shows?

Exercise:
Thursday morning I did a shorty. I didn’t go as well as on Wednesday but it still was a good run. Again I looked forward to running and enjoyed it and that’s the most important thing to me right now.

I took this morning of from running. In 2 weeks my new training plan starts and from that point I will be running almost every Saturday till half October. May has been the worst training month so far this year. It’s okay, I guess I needed a bit of a break from running this much and I don’t think it’s bad for a person to take it easy for a few weeks before go back to a training plan.

Operation Fran back at 73 kg!
Monday I started watching my weight again. The weekend before was “bad”. Overall I ate too much, especially on Sunday. The first 3 days of last week were perfect. I ate everything according to the plan and wasn’t hungry. Have to say after only 2 days I felt less tired and had more energy already.
On Wednesday I joined My Fitness Pal and started tracking again. I don’t measure my food but estimate. It’s about the big picture concerning the calories and not about the details.
Thursday I had a meeting including lunch at work and I didn’t track. I always find it hard to estimate food when I don’t prepare it myself.
Yesterday was “failure” by the end of the day I was tired and instead of cooking something for myself I gave in to junk food.

Conclusion:
Except yesterday I’m pleased with how this week went. I have never been hungry.
Weight loss this week (weigh inn day is Thursday): -0.2 kg (-0.4 lbs).

365 days photo challenge 2011

Day 141 – Saturday May 21
There was a 50K relay (or solo run) in my village. One of my colleagues was running with a team and I watched it. It was fun to see a race from the other side (this is not the team of my colleague by the way).

Day 142 – Sunday May 22
High tea (see who sneaked into the picture under the table?)

Day 143 – Monday May 23
Birthday gift I got from my friend K.

Day 144 – Tuesday May 24
View during daily walk.

Day 145 – Wednesday May 25
Sunrise during morning run

Day 146 – Thursday May 26
We have something in Holland called “Avondvierdaagse”. This is organized all over the country. For nights people walk 5 or 10K. In my village all the school children walk this with a lot of parents. I myself walked it every year when I was a kid and walked it once since I moved here.

Day 147 – Friday May 27
Got an asparagus package from a relation from work. It’s got all the ingredients for a complete meal for 4. White asparagus are expensive here in Holland but so good. They are also called the “white gold” here.

  1. I like that walking tradition.
TV shows – The Good Wife, Gray’s Anatomy,Brothers and Sisters, Lost,
Modern Family, West Wing, (Some of these are old) Damages, I’ll think of more.

  2. As a fellow Grey’s fan, I agree that the musical episode was a DISASTER. So. Terrible. And I’m with you that Derek will get over things and go back to Mere. I think he’ll see what a good mother she is and won’t be able to stay away from that adorable baby! What do you think will happen with Christina and Hunt?

  3. Wow that is a lot of TV. LOL. I watch too much reality tv. My favourite shows are Raising Hope, Big Bang Theory, American Idol, any season of Top Chef (if it is not being broadcast here, I watch it online), Project Runway, any English speaking version of Top Model (I watch Britain, Australia and New Zealand online and America here), Nurse Jackie, United States of Tara and pretty much anything on the Food Channel. LOL.

Hmmm maybe I just figured out why I’m not getting any exercise! 😉

  4. An asparagus package…how cool is that? I love white asparagus and it is not too expensive here.

I only watch two shows, Glee and America’s Next Top Model. They are both done already and I don’t think ANTM is coming back.

Great job on the running…it must feel so much better when you are enjoying it.

Love the walk! Wonderful way to involve the whole family.

  5. I am sorry but I don’t watch tv shows.
I suffer to see the races from the other side.
The walk is a great idea to involve every kind of persons.
I see a little part of Italy in the last picture: the cantuccini of Siena.

  6. That asparagus package is really cool! Did you take a picture after you made it?

White asparagus is expensive here as well, but the green is much cheaper right now as it is pretty much in season.

I have never seen any of those shows! I don’t watch much network TV. I love watching old movies.

We do get one series on netflix called Breaking Bad. It is very, very good.

  7. That’s a great walking tradition, we always do it in April.
Asparagus aren’t exensive here in Central Italy. As soon as you visit Italy you eat wild asparagus, They are very good! Glad you had a nice week, I’m trying to lost weight too!
    Enjoy that sunny Sunday!

  8. Oh dear, we an episode behind you all…so am now reading what I will only be seeing next week….hmmmmmmm dam!!!!
I love reality shows and lots that you mentioned as well…

  9. I have been following your blog for a month now, and I really enjoy it. I live in California (The Mentalist is filmed a lot in my town, Sacramento). I have a 2.5 old son, and I work part-time, so I don’t have much time to watch TV, but my favs are Army Wives, Modern Family and Blue Bloods. I recently finished an Australian series called McCullough Daughters. I got it on Netflix. It was about sisters running a farm in the Australian outback. Just loved it.

  10. I remember when you got your asparagus package last year! How time flies. 🙂

My favorite song from Glee is Forget You, too. Love(d) to run to it. Just makes me happy. Although Hell to the No is pretty awesome too.

I love Glee and Raising Hope, The Middle, Modern Family, Cougar Town, The Office, Parks and Rec, 30 Rock, um…Survivor, Amazing Race, Big Brother…I’m sure there’s more but I can’t remember right now. I DVR everything and watch on my time, without commercials, so I can get through the shows pretty quickly.

  11. I too love TV Shows. My favorite is Private Practice and Mike & Molly.

  12. I think it’s crazy that I don’t watch any of the shows that you do. I don’t have cable right now but I still try to watch How I Met Your Mother, The Office, 30 Rock, Community, and Perfect Couples online whenever I get a chance. I also sometimes get into some reality shows like America’s Next Top Model, Next Food Network Star, and Top Chef.
I’ve never had white asparagus but my old roomie bought it once. I’ll have to give it a try. Do you have a recipe you like to use?
